About Hugo
I’m a writer, ghostwriter, and editor with decades of experience shaping the ideas and capturing the memories of others. I co-wrote the memoir of famed supermodel Carré Otis—a HarperCollins bestseller— and I’ve served as an uncredited ghostwriter on numerous other projects, including both celebrity memoirs and privately published narratives. My own work has appeared in numerous outlets, including the Los Angeles Times, the Guardian, and the Atlantic.
I spent 20 years as a college teacher, guiding students through the writing process, and encouraging them to find their own unique and powerful voices. I earned my PhD in history from UCLA, where I learned that the most important job of the historian is to give voice to those whose words and stories we’ve not yet heard.
In every aspect of my professional life, I’m dedicated to the basic idea that every person’s story matters, and deserves to be told.
